Criminal cases can be heard as ‘summary hearings’ or ‘indictable trials’.
Summary offences come before the Magistrates' Court. Once instructed, we will obtain your charge sheets, the prosecution brief and advise on the best course of action. How your case then progresses is subject to whether you plead guilty or not guilty.
Serious indictable offences commence in the Magistrates' Court and then proceed to the County or Supreme Courts, either before a jury as a criminal trial, if you plead not guilty, or before a single judge as a plea of guilty.
